Dr. Muhammad Umar
I am
About MeAs a highly skilled programmer with a PhD in mathematics, I bring a unique combination of analytical and technical expertise to a project. With a deep understanding of mathematical principles and programming languages, I am able to create innovative solutions to complex problems. My programming skills are honed by years of experience working on diverse projects, and I am always eager to stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies. I thrive in collaborative environments and am committed to producing high-quality work that meets or exceeds expectations.
After my higher secondary school education, I took admitted to one of the prestigious universities of Lahore, Government College University, Lahore, to pursue my Bachelor's degree in mathematics back in 2008.
After completing my BS (Hons.) Mathematics in late 2012, I secured admission to the Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) in Mathematics at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan in the session 2012-2014.
In 2015, I visited the São Paulo Campus of the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil for a 12-day workshop on Advanced Techniques in Scientific Computing, fully sponsored by ICTP, Italy and SAIFR.
After my MPhil, I started teaching Mathematics and Programming Languages to undergraduate and graduate students as a visiting faculty from September 2015 till March 2019 in my alma mater.
Meanwhile, I enrolled in Ph.D. program at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Pure & Applied Mathematics (CASPAM), Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan.
In 2018, published a book named Simplified Numerical Analysis for undergraduate students.
In 2018, I worked as a Research Assistant of Dr. Imran Akhter, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan.
In March 2019, I started working as a Research Assistant of Dr. Naveed Ahmed, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Mathematics (CASM), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan.
I worked as a visiting faculty at different universities e.g. Superior University, Lahore, Bahauddin Zakariya University sub-campus Vehari, in 2019-2021.
In November 2021, I joined NUR International University as a visiting faculty and taught till August 2023.
In March 2022, I started working as a Research Assistant in CA-AD group, Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing, Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, Germany.
On 12 May 2022, I defended my Ph.D. dissertation.
In 2022, published two undergraduate books named Exploring Quantitative Skills and Tools for Quantitative Reasoning.
I visited Heidelberg University in September-October 2022 fully funded by the Heidelberg university & CA-AD group.
In February 2023, I joined University of Management & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan as an Assistant Professor (visiting).
From January 2023 till December 2023, I pursued my post Doctrol research fellowship (remotely) from Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), Kuwait City, Kuwait.
In 2023, launched a journal named UNIMOUN & B (UNIcentric Model of the Observable UNiverse & Beyond) in collaboration with a German professor.
In November 2023, I Joined CA-AD group, Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing, Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, Germany as a Postdoctoral Resaercher.
Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.

The use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in constructing Reduced Order Models (ROMs) for complex systems is investigated in this project, specifically for non-Newtonian blood flows with magnetic field effects in an artery with stenosis. By utilizing high-dimensional simulations, a comprehensive dataset is generated in a wide parametric space of Reynolds numbers and Hartmann numbers. The project describes the application of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) on snapshots of the vorticity field, enabling the construction of a low-dimensional representation of vorticity data.
Developed a python based software to make predictions of phenotype transition probabilities. The findings of this project will be submitted in a well reputed journal in near future.
FORTRAN-based flow solver which numerically simulates the blood flow phenomenon in stenosis arteries. The flow solver is user friendly, although not having a graphical user interface, takes input parameters, and results the numerical values used to analyze the heat and mass transfer in a fluid flow containing different nanoparticles.
FORTRAN-based parallel flow solver for super computers which numerically simulates the incompressible fluid flow problems. The flow solver is designed using OPENMP and OPENMPI in such a way that it can work on shared memory or distributed memory or hybrid memory machines. The flow solver is extended from Euler equations to Maxwell further upto Navier Stokes equations.
A MATLAB-based customized code to rank the players of National Basketball Association for the season 2019-2020. The code basically ranks the players using multi-criteria decision-making method. 500+ players with over 25000+ matches have been analyzed and ranked based on 14 criterias. The ranking is much more efficient as compared to the ranking by the website.
FORTRAN, MATLAB, C++, and python based solvers for different phenomenons has been written as a Freelancing service, ranging from nuclear reaction mechanism for delayed protons to finite element based flow solvers.
